Dear Friends,
Our next meeting will take place at 7:30 on Wednesday, February 22 (Washington's Birthday and Ash Wednesday)
in the community room of the Municipal building, 1 Van Wyck Street, Croton-on-Hudson.
Our last meeting, devoted to the odd but wonderful Argentinian writer, Jorge Luis Borges, was quite mind-stretching. Under the guidance of Charlie Bennett, we explored some of his complex stories and even got to discuss infinity and information theory. Please keep on reading Borges -- you will be rewarded!
Our next meeting will feature a PowerPoint™ presentation by our member, Cynthia Andersen on Frederick Douglass, in honor of Black History Month. Douglass escaped from slavery, learned to read, and wrote Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. He became one of the most powerful abolitionists, and a world-famous personality.
Mark your calendar -- the 22nd is not our usual third Wednesday of the month!
Love,
Cornelia
